Prevent Child Abuse Arizona is thrilled to announce we have received a two-year grant from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation to c
reate a learning cohort for communities wishing to start a Family Resource Center (FRC). This project will also strengthen the statewide network of FRCs that helps existing centers learn, connect, and grow.
Family Resource Centers are trusted, community-based hubs where families can find connection, information, and support. They are there for families not only in times of crisis, but also as part of everyday life. FRCs help caregivers navigate challenges early by offering parenting support, referrals, help accessing public benefits, food assistance, and connections to healthcare and early childhood services. For families, they can be a welcoming front door to support. For communities, they are a powerful way to prevent child adversity and strengthen long-term well-being.
FRCs currently exist primarily in Maricopa and Pima counties. Communities across Arizona have expressed strong interest in FRCs, but Arizona lacks a clear roadmap for how to seed them everywhere, for every family.
With Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation’s support, Prevent Child Abuse Arizona will launch an FRC Exploration Cohort to help communities move from interest to action. The cohort will offer shared learning and collaboration among peers who share a common goal: creating an FRC that is tailored to the unique needs, strengths, and geography of their community. Beginning in May, participants will engage in monthly presentations, peer learning and expert technical assistance to support local exploration.
Prevent Child Abuse Arizona is hosting a webinar on April 16, 2026 (register here!) to share more about the cohort, including who can apply to participate. We are looking for local leaders who are ready to convene partners and move this idea forward in their communities.
By the end of the program, participants will have a clearer strategy for how to establish an FRC that fits local needs and strengths. They will also contribute to statewide learning that supports Arizona’s long-term Family Resource Center strategy.
