Communications & Marketing Strategist

Job Description

The Communications & Marketing Strategist is responsible for shaping, stewarding, and integrating PCA Arizona’s brand, voice, and visual identity across all communications platforms. This role exercises significant discretion and independent judgment in developing and managing communications, marketing, and media strategies that advance fundraising, public awareness, and community engagement.

In addition to managing visual design, media assets, digital platforms, and donor-facing communications, this role is responsible for fully integrating Prevent Child Abuse America brand standards, ensuring consistent and mission-aligned messaging across all channels, and serving as a key communications partner for organizational events and initiatives. The Communications & Marketing Strategist collaborates closely with the Executive Director and staff to ensure PCA Arizona’s communications are clear, cohesive, and values-driven.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Strategically integrates and consistently applies Prevent Child Abuse America brand standards, including approved messaging, logo usage, and visual identity, across all PCA Arizona communications and materials.
  • Innovatively creates the visual design for PCA Arizona’s various resource development strategies, including but not limited to annual giving, event sponsorships, fundraising events, and corporate philanthropy campaigns.
  • Competently develops and implements communications and marketing/outreach plans.
  • Capably manages and curates PCA Arizona’s social media presence, ensuring messaging is consistent, on-brand, aligned with communications standards, and effective in advancing public awareness and community engagement.
  • Thoughtfully ensures that the voice and tone of PCA Arizona’s communications are consistent, clear, and aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values across all platforms.
  • Continuously and skillfully researches and analyzes market trends, creative solutions, and partner feedback to refine and strengthen PCA Arizona’s media and marketing strategy.
  • Professionally collaborates with the Executive Director and PCA Arizona staff to ensure cohesive brand messaging and to support organizational objectives in all targeted marketing efforts, providing guidance to staff, the board of directors, and partners on proper use of the PCA Arizona brand.
  • Cooperatively assists in coordinating training events, conferences, and other organizational gatherings, taking responsibility for design-related elements including website content, flyers and visual communications, SWAG research and design, signage, and presentation materials.
  • Reliably attends major PCA Arizona events (approximately 12 per year) to support event operations, serve as an event archivist, and document and communicate event impact through newsletters, social media, and other communications.
  • Effectively communicates the impact of PCA Arizona’s programs, trainings, and events to external audiences through digital content, newsletters, and social media.
  • Regularly and capably performs website maintenance and updates to ensure content remains current, relevant, and brand-adherent.
  • Adeptly multitasks while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Effectively works remotely in a home-office environment with minimal supervision and travels to the Prescott Valley PCA Arizona office as needed.
  • Cooperatively, courteously, and helpfully works with coworkers, management, and external partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, media asset development, brand development, or digital content development is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and design software is required.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn is required.
  • Experience developing and maintaining websites through WordPress is preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple deadlines, exercise discretion and independent judgment, and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented, thorough, and highly reliable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and vision of PCA Arizona: strengthening families and protecting children through collaboration, education, and advocacy; envisioning a world where all families and children live happy and purposeful lives with hope for the future.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and be able to travel in-state, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Must have a current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within 30 days of hire.

  • This is a hybrid position. Approximately 80% of worktime is spent at a desk in a home office or PCA Arizona office using a computer and telephone; remaining time includes attending off-site events or meetings.

Statewide Court Teams Coordinator

Job Summary

This is a five-year, grant funded position with the goal of sustainability past the grant cycle. The Statewide Coordinator will work in collaboration with judicial and child welfare leadership, community partners, county-based coordinators, and three identified Safe Babies Court Team™ (SBCT) enhancement sites in Arizona through planning, implementation, training, and evaluation. The Statewide Coordinator will also convene the state level leadership team, county-based court teams, and other stakeholders to promote coordination and collaboration; provide community-wide and SBCT-specific training opportunities; and conduct ongoing data collection and quality improvement activities. The Coordinator will be responsible for grant and performance reporting within established timelines. The Coordinator will explore and champion prevention services statewide and work towards creating a connected system of statewide resources to support families to reduce out-of-home placement for infants and toddlers.


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Capably convenes and facilitates state level leadership team meetings.
  • Regularly creates and updates statewide action plan and goals.
  • Assesses and works collaboratively with leadership team and other partners to address gaps in prevention services for families at risk of dependency involvement.
  • Partners with the Data and Evaluation Lead to establish and maintain effective feedback loops between the State Team and local Site Implementation Teams.
  • Actively participates in or facilitates community court teams of identified sites.
  • Competently coordinates and delivers training and technical assistance on the SBCT approach to three identified enhancement sites.
  • Works collaboratively with local Community Coordinators and local judiciary to support the advancement of SBCT components and their court team’s goals.
  • Knowledgeably collects and analyzes data and trends across sites for continuous quality improvement purposes.
  • Remains current on the latest research, best practice recommendations, and policies, and disseminates information to the leadership team, county court teams, and community partners.
  • Effectively compiles policy and practice guidelines specific to stakeholder groups.
  • Skillfully plans and facilitates statewide meetings, conferences, and calls to support aligned implementation across sites and peer-to-peer learning.
  • Travels in and out of state for relevant professional development opportunities, and regularly travels in state to visit SBCT enhancement sites.
  • Competently creates written reports and presentations.
  • Frequently encourages and practices critical thinking.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. Master’s degree in child development, social work or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience focused on meeting the needs of vulnerable young children and their families is required. In-depth knowledge of infant/toddler social-emotional development and the impact of abuse and neglect is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, networking, and presentation skills.
  • Experience in creating and conducting presentations for large groups of professionals.
  • Experience with community collaboration to affect systems change.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal child welfare policies, practices, and laws.
  • Ability to work, make decisions, and problem solve independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary group
  • Ability to work with people of diverse educational, professional, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including parents with lived experience of the child welfare system.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Zoom/teleworking, presentation creation software.
  • Working knowledge of grants and grant reporting.
  • Ability to travel in and out of the state, with some overnight travel.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission of PCA Arizona, which is to strengthen families and protect children through collaboration, education, and advocacy.
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (or qualify to obtain one)
  • Reliable transportation and proof of valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.

 

Other Preferred Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of health equity and disparity issues, racial equity, historical trauma, poverty, intimate partner violence, child and adult development, parental history of childhood trauma, mental illness, substance use disorders and developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience working with the juvenile court system.
  • Skills in collecting and interpreting data.
  • Prior program development and project management experience.
  • Experience with reflective practices.
  • Previous SBCT Community Coordinator experience.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Approximately 60% of work time is spent at a desk in a home office or the PCAAZ office using a computer and telephone; the remainder of the time is spent moving about the office to complete duties, attending off-site events, and visiting enhancement sites.
  • The employee must be able to ambulate around the office or off-site venue, either on their feet or with an assistive device.
  • The nature of PCAAZ’s statewide work often requires in-state travel, thus requiring driving abilities using a personal vehicle or a PCAAZ vehicle, if available.
  • Offices and indoor venues are temperature-controlled environments. Some training venues may be outdoors in the heat or cold.
  • The employee must be able to effectively communicate with others in person, by phone, and through electronic devices.
  • Duties include lifting items that typically do not weigh more than 10 pounds.

Family Resource System Coordinator

Job Summary

This is a grant-funded position that is currently supported for two years, with the goal of sustainability past the grant cycle. The Family Resource System Coordinator will support the goals of the prevention workgroup of the Best for Babies leadership team by working with statewide and community partners to explore and strategize the creation of Family Resource Centers (FRCs) in rural counties. This position will work with Prevent Child Abuse Arizona staff and a statewide team of partner organizations, exercising discretion and independent judgment to support the execution of the plan to develop a robust, comprehensive, and sustainable system of FRCs accessible to all families across the state. This position will have a special focus on assessing readiness of rural communities to create FRCs, adapting the FRC model to the unique needs of rural communities, and building the capacity of rural counties in Arizona to create FRCs. Initial focus counties include Yavapai, Coconino, and Yuma.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Capably develops strategic action plans and goals for FRC implementation in rural counties.
  • Actively engages rural communities in assessing their readiness to create FRCs and exploring necessary resources needed to do so.
  • Collaboratively works with county and state-level leadership teams to promote progress towards the goal of reducing rural health disparities for families with young children.
  • Effectively coordinates and facilitates meetings, discussions, training and technical assistance to rural counties and community partners.
  • Travels in state to perform duties, and both in and out of state for relevant professional development opportunities, with prior approval from the Program and Training Director.
  • Thoroughly assesses assets and gaps in services for families in rural areas.
  • Regularly collects and analyzes data, informing stakeholders of trends and progress.
  • Actively participates in statewide Best for Babies leadership team meetings and community court teams meetings.
  • Continuously stays current on research, best practices, and policy developments; disseminating information about FRCs and progresses towards the goal of developing a robust, comprehensive, and sustainable system of FRCs accessible to all families across the state.

  • Efficiently plans and executes statewide summits or meetings related to FRC awareness and development.
